SAIL Amsterdam 2025: Europe’s Biggest Maritime Spectacle

This summer, 20-24 August 2025, will see the waterways of Amsterdam transforming into a spectacular maritime paradise as SAIL Amsterdam 2025 gathers together the world’s most fabulous tall ships, heritage vessels, and naval fleets. This year, marking its 10th edition, is a special one, as it also celebrates 50 years of SAIL and the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam.

About SAIL Amsterdam 2025

SAIL Amsterdam is the largest free public event that takes place in the Netherlands and is also one of the largest maritime festivals in Europe. Occurring once every five years, the festival attracts more than 600 ships, including tall ships, historic vessels, and Royal Navy ships.

This year’s edition is poised to outshine the others with a 12 km SAIL-In parade (on the 20th of August) where ships majestically enter the IJ Harbour, five themed zones with activities for all age groups, fireworks, live music, and cultural performances on the waterfront and a breathtaking SAIL-Out parade to mark the conclusion of the event on August 24.

The festival has been designed as five colorful zones, each with its own mode of experience:

• Orange Ocean – The heart of SAIL (Amsterdam IJhaven)
• Red Ocean – Cultural hub (Amsterdam city centre)

• White Ocean – Youth & entertainment (Amsterdam Noordzijde)
• Blue Ocean – Business & networking (Amsterdam Oosterdok)
