Innenschau Revisited

introspective journey into the protagonist’s psyche using music, dance and illusion as storytelling devices

Amsterdam Culture Club visits Innenschau at the Meervaart Theatre

  • 19:00
  • Meer en Vaart 300, 1068 LE Amsterdam, Netherlands

‘Innenschau [Revisited]’ is an introspective journey into the protagonist’s psyche using music, dance and illusion as storytelling devices. The performance doesn’t contain any dialogue, so it’s the perfect opportunity for non-Dutch speakers to experience a world-class show at Amsterdam’s Theater De Meervaart.

Based on the German word for ‘introspection’, ‘Innenschau’ explores the mental processes of a character burdened by anxiety and marital jealousy. When a woman goes missing at a party, her husband is convinced she was murdered and obsessively searches for her killer. The performance leads the audience to a Kafkaesque surreal world, calling into question how much we can rely on our memories and experiences. Indie-pop band Alamo Race Track provide the live music that heightens the drama.

At this performance, members of Amsterdam Culture Club will also be treated to an exclusive reception with the director of Theater De Meervaart, Andreas Fleischmann, a talk by director Jakop Ahlbom and drinks following the show.

Tickets are €25 (+ 1.50 transaction fee), including performance, welcome drink, reception and a guided tour. To purchase tickets you need to sign up for membership (free) at www.amsterdamcultureclub.com. Ticket sales close on 15 January.
